Appearance and personality

Thraxa is fiercely loyal to her family. When Kavax is captured, she joins the expedition to bring him home.[1]

Thraxa later has wild gold hair and a prosthetic left arm made by Sun Industries. Obsidian admirers give her white feathers, and she becomes known as the Hammer.[2]

Attributes and abilities

Thraxa joins the fast corvettes pursuing Antonia under Victra’s command. Their mission is to catch the fleeing ships and recover Kavax.[1]

Darrow considers Thraxa his best remaining small-unit commander. She makes quick decisions, fights hard and looks after exhausted companions such as Alexandar. She is also badly hurt more than once and depends on others to get her out alive.[3]

Diomedes recognizes Thraxa’s Windsweeper technique in the grainy recording of the fight with Ajax. She attacks alongside Victra, who delivers the killing blow and beheads him.[4]

History

Book 3

Morning Star

After the Sword Armada’s defeat, Antonia escapes with surviving ships and Kavax as a prisoner. Darrow sends Thraxa and her sisters after them in fast corvettes led by Victra. Victra later reports that they have captured Antonia and freed Kavax.[1]

Book 4

Iron Gold

Known as the Hammer, Thraxa returns from Mercury carrying the Seventh Legion’s standard. Her missing left arm has been replaced by a Sun Industries prototype, and she wears white feathers given by Obsidian admirers. She takes part in the family life Darrow briefly rejoins, including the children’s training.

She follows the expedition to Venus and is badly wounded during the assault on the Ash Lord’s defenses, losing her prosthetic left hand. When the group divides, she stays with Darrow as Sevro heads home.[5]

Book 5

Dark Age

During the rescue of Orion, Thraxa fights with her hammer, Wee Lass, frees Darrow from crash webbing and protects Alexandar. Darrow trusts her to command small groups and sends her into the campaign against Atlas. Exhaustion and mounting injuries make the fighting increasingly difficult.

She helps bring forces across the Ladon and fights through the victory at Heliopolis. News of Daxo’s murder reaches her on Mercury, where grief is separated from any reliable knowledge of her parents’ safety. Her frustration can become harshness toward enemies and civilians: Darrow overrules her proposal to reserve radiation medicine for soldiers alone.

In the final collapse she survives burning armor, fights beside Darrow on Via Triumphia and attacks Lysander at close quarters. Rhone shoots her, and Reds help carry her out of the street alive. Cassius’s arrival eventually takes her off Mercury with the surviving group.[6]

Book 6

Light Bringer

Stranded with Darrow, Thraxa helps run the survivors’ base and argues that Mars needs him more than another dangerous mission does. Before they separate, she gives him Bad Lass, the family weapon passed to her through Kavax.

She returns to Mars and volunteers for its defense, commanding the Pegasus veterans. At Phobos she fights beside Victra against Ajax; the recording identifies her as the second fighter and shows Victra delivering the beheading. Thraxa returns with the surviving force and later sees Kavax brought back alive after his captivity. Darrow continues carrying Bad Lass through his own distant campaign.[7]

Relationships

Thraxa reunites with Kavax after he survives another captivity. The family has already lost Pax and Daxo.[8]

Darrow

When Sevro leaves to rescue the children, Thraxa stays with Darrow and the army.[9]

Darrow relies on Thraxa’s leadership but refuses her proposal to keep radiation medicine for soldiers alone.[10]

Thraxa believes Darrow should return to Mars. When he chooses another mission, she gives him Bad Lass, the family weapon she inherited through Kavax.[11]

Victra au Julii

Victra commands the pursuit in which Thraxa helps recover Kavax.[1]

Thraxa and Victra defeat Ajax together on Phobos. Victra delivers the beheading.[4]
