Li Na’s status cactus
Li Na and Rosetta prepare a dread-trapped cactus to signal her status when ordinary chat may no longer work. Its glow, flowers and eventual condition are meant to distinguish different outcomes.[1]

Reading the signals
A ready glow means Li Na is alive in the dungeon. Triggered flowers and spores after the glow ends indicate that she has physically left the game. Deactivation followed by dust means death inside, while a slow fade over days suggests she is still trapped in cleaner storage.
One flower while the trap continues to glow is her deliberate approval of the route. A different flowering signal means she is alive but considers it unsafe. The group must protect the cactus from damage that could be mistaken for a signal.[1]

History
Book 8
A Parade of Horribles
The cactus does not change when her cleaner is sold. Her later party departure and disqualification also do not prove she has been released. The single flower that appears afterward is the sign they have been waiting for.
That flower stays stable while more crawlers leave. Other travelers receive simpler plants, which do not provide all of Li Na’s signals.[2]
