Race navigator · Introduced in Book 8
Navitron 1000
The Navitron 1000 is the Royal Court’s onboard navigator. It explains routes, timing and race rules, but its starting version lacks live rankings and complete information about hazards.[1]

Navigation and upgrades
The jungle route exposes those gaps. It does not know the trap locations, and threat radar requires an upgrade the team has not bought. Its estimates can therefore miss dangers along the route.
An audience upgrade adds a hologram and vehicle diagnostics without fixing the navigation gaps. Later additions include three GPS upgrades, better processing, integrated weapons controls and a Golden cloak. Dorota remains disabled after the earlier upgrade.[2]

History
Book 8
A Parade of Horribles
The Navitron develops the personality of Dr. Metcalf, based on Bea’s former therapist. There is no indication that the real man has been moved into it. He quarrels with Dorota during their travels and continues speaking after his housing breaks in the third-heat crash.[3]

Book 8
A Parade of Horribles
The upgraded navigator coordinates attacks on the final starting grid. His hologram stays with the truck on Floor Eleven, after the race’s automatic repairs and food replenishment have stopped.[4]
