Dungeon Crawler Carl is getting a tabletop card game that lets you tackle the World Dungeon as Carl or Princess Donut, either alone or with a friend.

Published by Renegade Game Studios and designed by John D. Clair, Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable combines deckbuilding with a system that lets you physically upgrade your cards during play. The base game covers the first three floors, with two launch expansions adding another floor, more playable crawlers, and an original short story.

It is still an upcoming release. Here’s what we know about the game, its release plans, and the expansions already in development.

When does Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable come out?

Renegade currently lists November 2026 for the base game’s release, with a US price of $60.

There is a retailer discrepancy to keep in mind: Amazon currently lists December 1, 2026, at $59.99. Those are the dates displayed as of September 11, so check the listing for the store you’re ordering from.

You can preorder Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable on Amazon, where the product description lists one to two players, ages 14 and up, and approximately 45–80 minutes of play.

What kind of game is it?

Unstoppable is a solo or two-player cooperative deckbuilding game. You fight enemies, improve your abilities, and try to survive long enough to reach the stairs.

The base box gives you Carl and Princess Donut as playable characters and covers Floors 1–3. Each session takes place on a single floor.

It is also a separate product from Dungeon Crawler Carl: The Roleplaying Game, which was crowdfunded alongside it. The roleplaying game lets a group create characters and run adventures in the setting; Unstoppable provides a structured card-based crawl.

How does the card-crafting system work?

The interesting part is that improving your deck also makes the dungeon more dangerous.

Cards sit inside sleeves with interchangeable components. During a game, you acquire upgrades and slot them into those sleeves, changing what a card can do. However, strengthening your abilities also strengthens the threat on the opposite side.

That creates a practical tradeoff: an upgrade might help you survive now while giving you a tougher enemy to deal with later.

Renegade’s breakdown of the core box also explains that floors have different requirements for reaching the stairs. You encounter Neighborhood and Borough Bosses, while Floor 3 introduces quest chains you must overcome to advance.

The necessary sleeves come in the box, along with player boards, floor mats, tokens, reference sheets, and a campaign sheet pad. You do not need an expansion or the original Unstoppable game to get started.

Arcade Mode and Campaign Mode

There are two ways to approach the dungeon.

Arcade Mode is for a standalone run. You begin with a race and class, giving you those abilities from the start.

Campaign Mode links floors together. You earn XP through bosses, achievements, and quests, then spend it on bonuses that carry into later sessions. Progress is recorded on the included campaign sheets.

The carryover is selective, so you should not expect to preserve every card and upgrade between floors. Instead, the system gives you a growing crawler while retaining the challenge of building up during each run.

Campaign players also wait until Floor 3 to receive a race and class, following the books. Renegade says the two modes have different difficulty scaling to account for their different starting power levels. Its campaign explanation also introduces an additional difficulty called Unbeatable, where reaching higher levels pushes the danger track forward.

What does the Iron Tangle expansion add?

The Iron Tangle expansion takes the game onto Floor 4, bringing its infamous train layout to your table.

Renegade lists it at $25, with a November 2026 release window.

The expansion includes five new bosses, additional threats, tactics, allies, and upgrades, plus floor mats, Iron Tangle map mats, and a train token. Its description specifically names the Nightmare Express and The Abyss.

For players interested in continuing farther down the dungeon, this is the expansion that extends the game beyond the three floors in the core box. It requires the base game.

What does Crawler Chaos add?

The second launch expansion, Crawler Chaos, focuses on who you can play.

Renegade’s current listing names Katia, Imani, Prepotente, and Archie as additional playable crawlers. It also adds race and class options and supports creating a custom crawler.

Crawler Chaos costs $25, is listed for November 2026, and requires the base game.

There is a reading bonus, too: the expansion includes “Swarm,” an original short story by Ben Wolf about Archie entering the dungeon.

Is another expansion already being developed?

Yes. Renegade has confirmed that work is underway on another expansion beyond Iron Tangle and Crawler Chaos.

In its producer and developer update, the publisher said that the first wave was in full production and that the next expansion was already being worked on, although it remained some way off.

Which box do you need?

The $60 base game is the complete starting point, with Carl, Donut, three floors, and both play modes.

Iron Tangle adds another floor. Crawler Chaos adds more character options and the Archie story. At Renegade’s listed US prices, buying the base game and both launch expansions totals $110 before tax and shipping.

With the books also heading toward a television adaptation at Peacock, Unstoppable gives fans another way into Matt Dinniman’s World Dungeon.
