History
Book 1
Dungeon Crawler Carl
A deadly production under financial pressure
Borant chooses an eighteen-floor dungeon for Earth and organizes the show after years of preparation. Mordecai explains that the audience is more valuable to the company than the resources it mines: advertising, subsidies and a share of sponsorship spending all help fund the production.
Odette warns that Borant may go bankrupt, which could leave service contracts frozen. Mordecai later explains that the government needs the revenue released at the end of the season and is pressuring the company to finish quickly. For crawlers, that means shorter deadlines. At the same time, warnings about dungeon bugs threaten Borant’s right to keep running the show.[2]

Book 2
Carl’s Doomsday Scenario
Using the season’s veto
After a court upholds the party’s rewards, Borant uses its only seasonal veto to deny the loot. It cannot take back the experience they have already earned. The decision punishes the party immediately but leaves the company without another veto for the rest of the season. Carl also suspects Borant could benefit from trouble between Valtay and the Skull Empire, although he has no proof it arranged their conflict.[3]

Book 3
The Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook
The cost of running the show
Mordecai explains that the showrunners normally receive a cut of room purchases. The AI’s compensation coupons let crawlers obtain rooms without paying, depriving Borant of that income.
During a television appearance aboard a submarine, Carl discovers that his ordinary crawler abilities still work. He suspects Borant has saved money by omitting additional zone controls. A producer also admits that the season began before the culture consultant had finished researching Earth. Since the rules prevented direct consultation with humans, the resulting program contains mistakes.[4]

Book 5
The Butcher’s Masquerade
The company is separated from the government
A Syndicate court separates Borant Corporation from the Borant government. An existing rule gives Valtay a 51 percent stake in the company. Borant continues operating the crawl and its contracts remain valid, but the government loses ownership of the planet, its resources and the production.
The takeover ends Carl’s Valtay sponsorship because the company now owns a majority of the showrunner. He keeps the gifts it has already sent. Lexis warns that Valtay has not yet secured full practical control, and the administrator insists that he remains in charge. The change in ownership does not immediately replace the staff running the season.[5]
