Writing tools · Introduced in Book 4

Writing and scribing
The kit could also be used to make scrolls for sale, but that requires the right forms, equipment and scribing skills. Carl does not initially have even the basic scroll-scribing skills. The ink supply is limited.[1]

Book 4
The Gate of the Feral Gods
Carl receives the kit in the AI’s Gold Box. Donut draws a cat, and Carl deletes the matching picture from his scratchpad; it disappears from the paper too. A later spill uses up the ink and cuts off this means of communication.[2]
