Introduction
Appearance and Personality
Juice Box can change her appearance on demand. The range of forms she can take surprises even Mordecai, who realizes that her abilities are far beyond what he expected.[1]
Juice Box looks after the children in the group and insists that the people sheltering them be treated with respect. She also comforts Bonnie after a loss, caring for a child from the other side of the local conflict.[2]
Juice Box appears as the gnoll manager Hunger Hammy before reuniting with Louis. At their wedding, she takes a blank form that displays level 120. Her displayed level changes with her form. Later, she frightens an audience of experienced outsiders by transforming into a many-limbed creature on air.
Arief recognizes Juice Box as Jatisrama. She later says that she remembers at least four hundred lives. Those memories build on the scattered recollections that began returning after Henrik’s death.[3]

Attributes and Abilities
Mordecai thinks Juice Box’s transformations resemble a very high-level Race Shifter ability, though he cannot fully explain them. She also knows the local dangers and helps Carl recognize that someone else is controlling Chris.[4]
Juice Box impersonates Epitome Noflex to enter a faction meeting. Once inside, she demands a separate NPC team with the same protections and voting rights as the established factions.[5]
Her shapeshifting lets her infiltrate meetings, reach guarded places and frighten enemies. She copies a procedural sluggalo and says that she has three basilica-guard copies available. Different forms display different levels, including level 120 in the blank form she wears for her wedding.
The many-limbed creature Juice Box becomes during the interview is unfamiliar even to Odette. Different people offer names and explanations for it, but its full history remains unclear.[6]
The Hunter Wraith form lets Juice Box pass through solid matter and use stored map knowledge to navigate the shifting castle. She uses it to reach Louis. Possessing someone in that form also brings the Inevitable Ruin curse, which reveals what it presents as a hopeless truth about its target.
Juice Box’s flesh-mancer ability animates the donor organs taken from the unfinished Lunette body. Mordecai prepares the flesh, Carl enlarges the body and the healers carry out the transplant. Her magic makes one crucial part of the emergency operation possible.[7]

History
Book 4
The Gate of the Feral Gods
A local contact with a displaced family
Carl meets Juice Box at The Toe and pays her for local information. She demonstrates transformations he did not expect an ordinary town worker to possess and explains the dangers of Ruckus and the mechanical birds. Later, she supervises children and enters the personal-space refuge when the changelings are exposed.
Juice Box says the Hunting Grounds are her people’s ancestral home. She asks the changelings to respect their Dromedarian hosts and explains why Henrik is desperate to copy a spell that produces food. Their births are worsening, and he fears for their survival. She also warns Carl about the being inside Chris.
Juice Box admits that the Gate could take her people home, but using it would devastate the world they leave behind. That cost helps explain Henrik’s refusal to take what first looks like an easy way out.[8]
Henrik’s death and the surviving children
She promises to look after Hump Town’s orphans and comforts Bonnie despite the conflict between their peoples. With Henrik missing, she considers entering the crypt to find him. His body is eventually recovered, and she mourns him.
Juice Box begins remembering another life: she was a teacher, her students were slaughtered and she had a dragonlike body. The memories return in fragments while she is grieving Henrik.[9]
Evacuation and a promise from Carl
The Twister carries the surviving changelings through the Gate to the sixth floor. Juice Box stays behind to help Carl with his final operation. He wins her agreement by promising to protect her people, though he initially conceals the plan’s real target.
Before leaving, Juice Box tells Carl that she intends to marry Louis and asks him to protect Louis too. She descends using the ordinary stairs.[10]

Book 5
The Butcher’s Masquerade
A community searching for safety
Carl hears that the changelings, including Bonnie, are traveling to a hidden village. Louis and Juice Box continue planning their wedding. Hunters begin targeting Louis, and Carl suspects a connection to Juice Box’s earlier impersonation.
The planned evacuation of Zerzura would put the town’s residents in deadly danger. Carl contacts their representatives and looks for another option. The convoy is later attacked on the road, keeping the safety of Juice Box’s people an urgent concern.[11]

Book 6
The Eye of the Bedlam Bride
Demanding a place at the table
After the Madness representative is beheaded, Juice Box interrupts a faction meeting disguised as Epitome Noflex. The current rules prevent the administrators from simply ejecting her.
She calls for an independent NPC team with equal protections and voting rights. The motion gives the NPCs a chance to be heard, though it does not guarantee that they will get what she demands. Before leaving, she asks about Louis and sends him her love.[5]

Book 7
This Inevitable Ruin
Promises that do not provide equal protection
Arief recognizes Juice Box as Jatisrama and thanks her for ending his captive brother’s suffering. She reunites with Louis and tells the allies that the NPC regeneration they were promised has not been provided. She also lacks the normal warlord controls, making it harder to protect her civilians.
Juice Box works to secure food and civilian safety while dealing with an unhelpful allied ruler. She and Louis marry in a small legal ceremony, with Juice Box wearing her blank form. The marriage strengthens their alliance, though Louis has privately questioned the pressure behind it.[12]
Addressing the spectators and considering escape
Juice Box uses the council’s procedures to press her demands, then challenges the spectators directly during an interview. She transforms into a terrifying, many-limbed creature and warns that she is coming for them. Odette cannot fully explain what she has become.
Juice Box tells Justice Light that she remembers at least four hundred lives. She demonstrates her ability to copy a procedural sluggalo while he offers the changelings a way out of their repeated captivity.[13]
Bringing Louis home
She brings changeling officers to reinforce the college entrance and promises Samantha a body for helping rescue Louis. Taking the Hunter Wraith form, Juice Box uses stored map information to pass through the shifting castle and reach him.
The Hunter Wraith curse tells Juice Box that Louis has a quality that makes NPCs fall in love with him. She believes her feelings are real but fears that what she has learned will destroy his hope. Carl challenges the curse’s claim that the situation must be hopeless, and they agree to keep fighting.
Louis returns with Tagg still controlling his mechanical organs. Samantha gives up the body intended for her, and Juice Box animates its flesh so Mordecai and the healers can use it for a transplant. The operation saves Louis, but his new fae lungs require a continuing supply of water.[7]
Entering the Nothing
After the war, Juice Box enters the Nothing as part of Justice Light’s plan. He had promised to accompany her, but instead stays behind and triggers the breach. The resulting rupture connects the Nothing to other realms and awakens Scolopendra.
The story does not show where Juice Box arrives or whether she survives the operation. She wanted a way out of repeated captivity, but Justice Light withheld part of his plan from her.[14]
Choose Book 7 or later above to read this part of the history.
Book 8
A Parade of Horribles
The breach without an answer
Justice Light’s final message confirms his death as the consequences of the rupture spread to other floors. Rosetta still does not know the full plan involving Juice Box. Neither the Unwashed contender shown to the crawlers nor their related float reveals where Juice Box has gone. Her condition remains unknown.[15]

Relationships
Henrik
Henrik tries to find a way to keep the changelings alive as their births worsen. Juice Box explains his motives without defending everything he does. She grieves when he dies, and memories of earlier lives begin to return afterward.[16]
The children and her people
Juice Box protects the children’s chance to play even while the adults are in danger. She also comforts Bonnie and promises to care for the orphans in Hump Town.[2]
Juice Box wants NPCs to have their own team, with equal protections and a vote in faction decisions. She refuses to accept their treatment as disposable background characters.[5]
When the promised protections fall short, Juice Box continues fighting for food and safety for civilians. She later confronts the audience that watches their suffering for entertainment.[17]
Louis
Samantha
Justice Light
Justice Light offers Juice Box a way out of the cycle of captivity and promises to enter the Nothing with her. She goes in, but he stays behind to trigger the breach. It is unclear how much she knows about what he intends to do.[21]
