Divine equipment · Introduced in Book 7
Enchanted Spiked Knee Pads of the Munificent Goddess Kina
The Enchanted Spiked Knee Pads of the Munificent Goddess Kina are divine equipment first described by Katia. They reflect melee damage and provide aquatic and consumption-related abilities, with additional effects tied to their divine connection.[1]

The ordinary equipment benefits
The listed package includes twenty-five-percent melee Reflection, underwater breathing, Swim at level fifteen, Iron Stomach at level ten and Eater of the Dead at level ten. These are the ordinary stated benefits; the later effect of standing near a god is a separate interaction.
The consumption abilities need material to work with. Katia eats expendable enchanted objects for an Intelligence increase, with twenty points established in the discussion. Corpse-eating can produce physical gains through mass and repeated use. Neither mechanism is a free grant of unlimited stats simply for wearing the knee pads.[1]

Divine proximity is conditional
Victory explains that divine equipment usually does not multiply the same proximity effect merely because several pieces are worn together. The stronger relevant effect generally prevails, although god-specific exceptions can exist.
That warning is useful when comparing the pads with other divine possessions. A reader should not add every apparent divine bonus together and assume Carl or Katia receives all of them continuously. The nearby deity, the item and the particular exception determine what actually happens.[1]

A timed protection near Khepri
Penelope’s later proximity to Khepri produces ninety seconds of invulnerability. The duration and proximity condition matter: this is not an upgrade that turns the original twenty-five-percent reflection into permanent total protection.
The confrontation also involves other equipment. A Loop-de-Loop trap exchanges Donut and Penelope’s positions, and the Four-Leaf Clover patch redirects a smite toward Penelope. The result depends on those interacting effects rather than on the knee pads alone making everyone nearby invulnerable.[2]

History
Book 7
This Inevitable Ruin
Katia explains the benefits before giving them away
Katia explains their abilities and the gains from eating enchanted objects, then says she has given them away. She does not name the recipient at that point.[1]

Book 8
A Parade of Horribles
The ownership chain reaches Penelope
The later account reveals that they passed from Katia to Donut and then to Penelope. Penelope wears them as Carl prepares to face Emberus.[3]
Ninety seconds in a larger equipment maneuver
Donut uses one of Lucia’s Loop-de-Loop traps to trade places with Penelope. Penelope appears outside beside Taranis and Khepri, where the pads grant ninety seconds of invulnerability. Donut is inside the club with Carl. The Four-Leaf Clover patch then sends Emberus’s smite into Penelope, who survives despite the apparent destruction.
Three effects make the maneuver work: the trap exchanges their positions, the clover redirects the smite and the pads give Penelope timed protection. The pads do not permanently shield the party or reflect every divine attack.[4]
