History
Book 5
The Butcher’s Masquerade
Bomo, the Sledge, Clay-ton and Very Sullen arrive as collateral while the Gate is being withheld. They serve Carl, Donut, Chris and Katia respectively for the current floor. A mercenary can regenerate after death, but the delay matters: if Bomo dies in Carl’s proposed attack, he will not return until the next floor.
Bomo helps the group escape with level-fifteen Teleport to Stairwell. The spell then takes twenty-five days to recharge, so they cannot use it again before the floor ends.[2]

Book 6
The Eye of the Bedlam Bride
Carl and Donut later receive new mercenary coupons. Bomo transfers to the ninth floor, leaving Carl without his immediate protection or teleport spell.
After the club is damaged, Carl uses a coupon and one hundred thousand gold to hire eleven displaced performers, their skeletal DJ and a crocodilian assistant. The two-floor contracts and space in the Mercenary Arcade let him bring all thirteen out.[3]
