Water Breathing scrolls and rings
Water Breathing scrolls and rings let crawlers breathe underwater. Scrolls last for a limited time, while the rings allow breathing in both air and water at the cost of one Charisma.[1]

Scrolls and rings
A scroll lasts three seconds for every point of Intelligence. During the flood, that gives Carl fifty-four seconds and Donut more than two and a half minutes. The words must be spoken aloud; sending them through chat does not cast the spell.
The rings reduce Charisma by one while worn, so Mordecai suggests putting them on when needed. They solve the problem of breathing underwater, but do not protect against every danger in a flooded area.[2]

History
Book 4
The Gate of the Feral Gods
The party receives scrolls in early floor rewards and relies on them during the flood. Later boxes provide ten scrolls each. Carl, Katia and Tran also receive rings after surviving the deep-water ordeal.[2]

Book 7
This Inevitable Ruin
Carl uses a scroll during Louis’s transplant because potion cooldown prevents an immediate potion solution. Water is supplied to Louis’s new neck gills, and he selects the Water Breathing setting. This lets his transplanted fae lungs work.[3]
