Celestial equipment · Introduced in Book 7
Cloak of the Benevolent Champion
The Cloak of the Benevolent Champion is celestial equipment that changes shape to fit its wearer. It gradually raises the wearer’s lowest stat toward a target recorded when it is first equipped, and upgrades several spells and a skill on separate timers.[1]

First equip and progression
Over sixty-six hours, the lowest base stat rises toward the highest value recorded at first equip. Four random spells reach level fifteen: one immediately and three during that period. A random skill takes 504 hours to improve. The cloak also gives level-five Find Weakened. Removing it pauses the timers; giving it to a different wearer resets them.
Carl later explains that Donut loses the cloak’s Constitution benefit when she removes it. Despite the initial description’s base-stat wording, the increase should not count as permanent base stats when choosing party leadership.[2]

History
Book 7
This Inevitable Ruin
Quan’s former cloak goes to Donut. Before she puts it on, Mordecai gives her MySpace Photo, making it record a Charisma target of 193 instead of 163. Her Constitution starts at twenty-seven. Bad Attitude immediately reaches fifteen; Wall of Fire, Heal Critter and Puddle Jumper improve over time.[2]

Book 8
A Parade of Horribles
The matching crupper later makes this a two-piece set out of four. It changes the cloak’s Constitution benefit, raises Find Weakened to ten and lets one of the upgraded spells reach sixteen. Donut chooses Puddle Jumper.[3]
