Enhanced Pet Biscuit
An Enhanced Pet Biscuit can transform a pet in unpredictable ways. Carl finds one among ordinary treats in a Legendary Pet Box, but has to consider the risk before giving it to Donut.[1]

A gamble, not ordinary pet food
A regular pet biscuit feeds a pet-based class for a day. The enhanced biscuit can change the animal itself. Mordecai describes more than a hundred possible effects, roughly half of which an owner might welcome. His advice is to use it in the guild’s safe zone: an unfavorable transformation can send the pet away instead of leaving it beside its owner.
That uncertainty matters to Carl. He briefly thinks about what a stronger Donut could do for him, then recoils at treating her as disposable equipment. The biscuit’s value is therefore inseparable from its risk. Neither its rarity nor Mordecai’s experience supplies a guarantee of a particular body, temperament or power.[1]

What Donut actually receives
Donut’s transformation leaves her recognizably a cat, but she can speak and the dungeon recognizes her as a crawler in her own right. Her displayed Strength and Intelligence become 11, Constitution 2, Dexterity 8 and Charisma 25. These are Donut’s results; they are not a universal stat package promised by every enhanced biscuit.
Her Enhanced Growth trait determines later advancement: each level adds one Strength, one Intelligence and two Charisma, without the normal freely allocated stat points. Her race is fixed unless another eligible item or race/class interaction changes it. The transformation does not grant every part of her developing build. Magic Missile comes from a separate tome, and her crown is a separate reward.
The distinction between a pet and a crawler also changes how she participates in the story. Donut can make choices, receive crawler rewards and argue with her party. Her high Charisma affects relevant NPCs and mobs, but Mordecai says it does not control him or other crawlers, including Carl.[2]

Later biscuits with specified outcomes
The later catalogue distinguishes products that deliberately control aspects of transformation. A Paramour biscuit makes a sufficiently intelligent, nonsapient pet into a level-one crawler with a permanent bipedal form, but also imposes an incurable love charm toward the feeder. That is a coercive condition, not simply an affectionate personality change.
The Special Party Companion version avoids that charm and preserves the animal’s original anatomy. Preserving the body can also mean preserving its inability to produce speech. The Nothing Special version sends the subject away as an NPC. These are described options at this point, not outcomes demonstrated by feeding each variant to a pet.[3]

History
Book 1
Dungeon Crawler Carl
Donut takes the choice out of Carl’s hands
Donut makes the decision herself by grabbing and eating it. She becomes a pulsing mass of light. Mordecai takes hope from the fact that she remains in the safe zone, though he cannot yet tell what she will become.
Donut first reveals that she can speak, commenting on Carl’s clothes and Beatrice. An examination then confirms her new stats and crawler status. Carl did not choose those results, but the stolen treat gives him the partner who will accompany him through the dungeon.[4]

Book 8
A Parade of Horribles
A mistaken biscuit changes Scolopendra
During the confrontation with Scolopendra, a proximity effect of the Scavenger’s Daughter swaps Carl and Donut’s inventories. Their different hotlist layouts make it easy to select the wrong item.
Carl wants a regular pet biscuit delivered inside a ball so he can turn Scolopendra into a pet and contain her. Donut gives him an enhanced biscuit instead. Carl launches it into Scolopendra’s mouth with Fist of Justice, and she begins transforming before the next attack.
She becomes Sexy Scolopendra, a speaking level-one crawler with a human-sized centipede body and a humanoid face. She joins the party, but her crawler status ruins the carrier plan: Carl cannot store her like an ordinary pet. Killing or abandoning her would trigger the remaining attacks. They still have to discover what her new powers and freedom will mean.[5]
