Consumable skill collection · Introduced in Book 7
Carl’s Book of Boom
Carl’s Book of Boom holds abilities donated by crawlers who are leaving the dungeon. They permanently give up those skills to create pages Carl can consume for temporary powers.[1]

A donated skill is something someone gives up
The contribution is not a copied lesson that leaves its donor unchanged. A departing current crawler permanently surrenders the skill so it can become a usable page. Former crawlers cannot make the same contribution under the described rules.
That cost gives the book its emotional weight. It records what someone is willing to leave behind for the people still fighting. Equipment donations accompany the wider farewell effort, but they remain separate objects rather than additional pages automatically folded into the book.[1]

The page is spent; the ability is temporary
A recipient consumes a page to gain the donated ability temporarily. The book is therefore a limited stock of opportunities, not a permanent addition of every donor’s complete skill list to Carl’s own build.
Choosing when to use a page means deciding which problem deserves that finite resource. A useful skill can be worth more in one carefully prepared combination than as an isolated attack, especially when the party can coordinate it with someone else’s spell.[1]

Carl’s book and Donut’s book are distinct
The same effort produces Donut’s Banquet Fit for a Princess. Both belong to the donation scheme, but they are different books with different pages and users. A skill placed in Donut’s book should not be listed as though Carl also owns a spare copy.
Carl’s title also does not make this a second Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook. The Cookbook’s inherited private history and crafting knowledge are a different resource. Book of Boom begins with donated, consumable skills and the relationships behind those gifts.[1]

Book 7
This Inevitable Ruin
Milk organizes the farewell books
Milk organizes the donation effort and the books for Carl and Donut. It lets departing crawlers help the people who continue without staying to fight themselves.[1]

Book 8
A Parade of Horribles
A particular donor and a coordinated use
Luca’s Temporary Macaroni goes into Donut’s separate collection. Carl later receives level-nine Gutter Bumper from Mehmet Or.
Mehmet talks about his family and the Istanbul bowling alley connected with his father. His wife has died, and he hopes his daughters survived outside, though their safety is not confirmed. Exhausted, he chooses to leave while giving Carl something useful for the road ahead.
Carl uses Gutter Bumper with Donut’s Ice Slick to follow the winding river. The ice follows the bends and extends fifty percent beyond its normal area. Gutter Bumper is a temporary power from the consumed page, not a permanent addition to Carl’s skills.[2]
Separate gifts and a place to leave instructions
Mees’s Big-Ass Magnet also goes to Donut’s book. Carl later uses Book of Boom for another purpose, writing down his eleventh-floor plan for his allies.
The written instructions give them a plan to consult. They do not grant a new ability or change how the donated pages are consumed.[3]
