History
Book 6
The Eye of the Bedlam Bride
Carl receives the kit as a substitute Gold Quest reward and initially leaves it unused. During their fusion, Shi Maria takes control of his body and uses his stored crafting supplies and enhanced liquids to tattoo the Eye of the Bedlam Bride onto his chest.[2]

Book 7
This Inevitable Ruin
Katia later learns to transfer skills through tattoos. Carl chooses a dragon-chain design that carries Li Na’s Profane Iron. With Toraline ink, Katia also gives Imani a level-one version of Carl’s trained Tripper. Carl temporarily loses six levels from that spell as a result.
Edgar, Rosetta and Milk later make a separate temporary tattoo that supplies the enemy-summoning effect Donut needs for her final combination of spells. Their experiments with ink expand what the tattoo tools can accomplish.[3]
