Reusable fusion card · Introduced in Book 6
Golden Combo card
Golden Combo is a reusable version of Combo. It lets the party fuse cards without spending a fresh consumable each time, although each attempted fusion must still follow the card system’s rules.[1]

Reusable does not mean permanently fused
An ordinary Combo card is spent when used. The Golden Combo card can be used again, making experimentation and repeated combinations possible without finding a new combo resource each time.
That does not mean every result remains fused forever. The Lazarus and Skylar combination is made persistent through a separate Glow Up card. The reusable combination tool and the persistence upgrade are different parts of the sequence, and attributing both effects to Golden Combo would hide an important cost.[2]

Other card rules still apply
The later removal of Lazarus by a Sheol demon crab demonstrates a limit of the successful combination. The Totem Eliminated result overrides the defensive expectations built around regeneration and splitting.
A fused creature therefore does not become exempt from the card system. Combining strong traits can create a useful combatant without making it immune to effects that remove a totem from play.[3]

A legal substitute with catastrophic consequences
Carl requests a combination involving Shi Maria and Alpha Carl. When Shi Maria kills Alpha Carl, the system accepts Carl himself as the eligible substitute. This is not the party’s original plan to merge Carl with her; the change follows the loss of the intended card participant.
The resulting fusion lasts up to 180 seconds or until the battle ends, with permanent death a real risk. Shi Maria dominates the body and accesses Carl’s inventory. Unsummoning the fusion would kill him, so a familiar card-control response is not a safe way out.[4]

The tattoo outlasts the timer
While controlling the fused body, Shi Maria creates the Eye of the Bedlam Bride tattoo. Its persistence is a consequence of what she does during the fusion, not a promise that every Golden Combo result leaves a permanent bodily change.
Donut later destroys Shi Maria’s card. That is not the destruction of the Golden Combo card, and it does not simply remove the tattoo already made on Carl. The distinction between the enabling card, the summoned participant and the lasting mark is essential to following the aftermath.[5]

History
Book 6
The Eye of the Bedlam Bride
Receiving the reusable card
The party receives the Unique card after using the ordinary consumable version. Its reusable nature gives them more opportunities to combine their totems.[1]
The Lazarus and Skylar example
Donut fuses Lazarus and Skylar, then uses a separate Glow-Up to preserve the result. A later Totem Eliminated event shows that even a permanent fusion can be destroyed.[3]
Shi Maria takes the substitute
Under pressure from demons, Carl attempts another combination. Shi Maria kills Alpha Carl, and the system substitutes Carl himself into the fusion. She controls his body and opens his inventory, reaching the Cookbook, the stored bomb and Kimaris. She uses Self Immolation in the fighting.
Katia, Mongo and Li Jun are injured. Unsummoning the fused being would kill Carl, so his allies cannot end it that way. When the timer expires, Shi Maria returns to the deck, but the tattoo she made remains on his chest.[4]
Destroying one card does not erase the aftermath
Donut destroys Shi Maria’s card afterward. That prevents further use of the card without undoing what she did while controlling Carl. Her lingering tattoo has consequences of its own.[6]
