Pawna’s Tears
Pawna’s Tears raises a chosen skill or spell by five levels. It can take an ability above the normal level-fifteen threshold, so using it too early can waste part of that advantage.[1]

Carl saves the reward. Mordecai advises him to wait until the chosen ability reaches fifteen and he has settled on his next subclass.[1]

Book 5
The Butcher’s Masquerade
Donut eventually uses Pawna’s Cries to raise Laundry Day to level twelve, then takes Pawna’s Tears. Her Legendary Diva class caps the result at fifteen, so the spell does not reach seventeen.[2]
