The deluxe hardcover of He Who Fights With Monsters, Book 3: Hero is now listed for November 17, 2026 in the US, five weeks later than its earlier October 13 date. The change applies to the AETHON: Vault edition of Travis Deverell’s third novel, written under his Shirtaloon pen name.
Both Aethon’s release calendar and Simon & Schuster’s US listing now show November 17. Amazon lists the same date for the hardcover. The updated listings do not give a reason for the delay.
What’s included in the Hero hardcover
The 656-page edition comes with a bonus short story exclusive to this deluxe hardcover. Its physical extras include a dust jacket with spot gloss, foil stamping on the case and spine, and custom illustrated endpapers.
Sprayed page edges are also included, but the publisher’s description specifies that they are limited to the first printing. Readers collecting the matching hardcovers should keep that distinction in mind when choosing a copy.
You can preorder the Book 3: Hero deluxe hardcover on Amazon. The edition’s ISBN is 9781638494003, which helps distinguish it from the book’s other formats and editions.
The hardcover series continues
Hero returns to Jason Asano as his growing power and influence attract increasingly dangerous enemies. He and his team are preparing for what comes next, while forces threatening their new home are running out of options and preparing a confrontation of their own.
Aethon’s hardcover releases began with Book 1 in May, followed by Book 2: Adventurer on September 8. We covered the second volume’s bonus story and physical details in our Book 2 deluxe hardcover article.
The publisher’s calendar also lists Book 4 for February 9, 2027, and Book 5 for April 6, 2027. Those are the next dates currently listed for readers building a hardcover collection. For now, Hero’s move to November leaves a longer gap after Adventurer than the original October schedule suggested.
