Interdiction carts and mobile portals
Iron Tangle repair carts carry mobile portals in their front scoops. They can send wreckage or passengers to selected destinations, which Carl uses to turn maintenance vehicles into a rescue fleet.[1]

Controls and destinations
The larger Rapid Response Railway Repair Contraptions have three battery slots. Their scoops can send debris to the Abyss or people to a trainyard. Two control plates must stay in contact with gnoll left hands. Katia tries imitating a gnoll, but the plates reject her.
The destination must be compatible, and something on the other side can still block the exit. Enemies can also evade the scoop or damage the cart itself.[2]

History
Book 3
The Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook
Three carts clear the tracks, followed fifteen minutes later by three collection carts. Fourteen preserved hands operate the six vehicles with one spare pair. The plan helps about eight hundred crawlers escape. At Yard M, the team has to move a vehicle because a wall blocks the front door used by the Mindaro collection route.
Carl accidentally sends the Station Mimic to Yard E while switching a spare cart’s destination between that yard and the Abyss.[3]

Book 3
The Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook
An Earth Mover shrinks a cart so the group can get it through a corridor. They restore its size and hang it upside down at station thirty-six. Its Abyss-facing scoop catches the surge through the ceiling and later sends the Province Boss through.
Zhang brings another cart into Yard E. Carl uses its Abyss setting during the second Grull summoning, sending Grull into the pit rather than killing him.[4]
