Introduction
Watch Li Na’s Complete Story
Watch our in-depth recap of Li Na’s story in Dungeon Crawler Carl, from her first appearance through Book Eight.
Full spoilers through Book Eight: A Parade of Horribles.
Appearance and Personality
When Carl first sees Li Na, she is trying to reach her injured manager’s sword during a monster attack. Li Jun carries her to safety after Carl’s advice gives the group a way out.[1]
Li Na later takes on a demon-like appearance and fights with chains. The system identifies her as a Changi with the Slave Driver class. She is direct with Carl, insisting that he explain his plans and offering ideas of her own.
Li Na is willing to use horrifying methods when she thinks they are necessary. To make a mantaur easier to transport as a summoning vessel, she removes parts of its body and repeatedly heals it to keep it alive. The others are disturbed by what she does.[2]
She is determined to strengthen her Dreads, even when Carl and Li Jun ask her to stop using them. After Li Jun dies, she removes one of her own eyes and replaces it with his Engine of Tomorrow.[3]
During the races, Li Na becomes quiet and withdrawn as poison eats away at her health. Unable to heal because of her ring, she eventually agrees to leave through the Cabaret. Before going, she tells Zhang that she knows he loves her and says goodbye.[4]

Attributes and Abilities
At level thirty, Li Na is a Changi Slave Driver. She helps devise the plan to send the opposing Province Boss through the cart portal and prepares a mantaur for the second summoning. It must stay alive to work as a vessel, so she heals it between amputations while making it easier to move.[5]
Li Na’s Preserve Injury keeps Eva from healing during her confrontation with Katia. Li Na also spots Eva’s escape ring. Her help allows Katia to carry out her revenge, but Eva manages to put another Crown of the Sepsis Whore on Katia before she dies.[6]
The Extend Aura tower greatly increases the range of Li Na’s Dread. Dark Purpose rises from level four to fifteen, and she then trains Defile Soul and Bleeding Horror. The assault team is protected from the effects, but people caught outside that protection suffer terribly. Li Na keeps using the tower to train even after Carl and Li Jun object.[7]
Donut persuades Carl to give Li Na his spare Ring of Divine Suffering. Li Na accepts it but turns down Indelible Woe. After her brother’s death, she uses his Engine of Tomorrow, gives Carl a duplicated Conscription potion and tries to take control of Harpocrates.
Li Na creates and repeatedly repairs a lattice of chains while Donut uses Astral Paw to push enemies through it. The kills raise all of Li Na’s base attributes to 300. That is the limit for base attributes; equipment and skill bonuses can still increase her effective stats.
The Ring of Divine Suffering prevents Li Na from healing while marked enemies remain alive. Three surviving members of the harem escape to Floor Eighteen, putting them far beyond her reach. Getting rid of Carl’s ring does nothing to remove the marks attached to hers.[8]
During the races, Li Na’s Dread reportedly causes rival teams to kill one another. Those deaths do not give her player-killer skulls. Meanwhile, the poison effect Left to Fester continues to worsen and survives floor transitions, even when the transition restores her health.
The party hopes that sending Li Na out through the Cabaret will give her a chance to survive. Because ordinary messages may stop working after she leaves, she sets up a signal using a trap and a cactus. The signal later indicates that she has been released and approves of the route, though the group cannot promise her a cure before she goes.[9]

Book 7
This Inevitable Ruin
Dread and the spare ring
During the naga assault, Li Na uses the aura tower to spread her Dreads across a huge area. The abilities gain levels rapidly as they kill and injure those exposed. Carl and Li Jun ask her to stop, but she continues training them while the team remains protected.
Li Na asks Carl for his spare Ring of Divine Suffering. He hesitates until Donut urges him to trust her, then gives it to her. She declines his separate offer of Indelible Woe.[11]
After Li Jun’s death
After Li Jun dies, Li Na replaces her own eye with his Engine of Tomorrow. She tells Carl that she interrupted the caster controlling Harpocrates, gives him a duplicated Hell-Kissed Conscription potion and tries to take control of the god herself. Carl uses the potion during his confrontation with Lucia.[12]
The final attack and the surviving marks
Li Na builds a lattice of chains, and Donut uses Astral Paw to force the trapped enemies through it. Li Na keeps replacing the damaged chains until the attack is over. The resulting kills bring every one of her base attributes to 300.
Some of Li Na’s marked targets escape, preventing her from healing. Three surviving members of the harem reach Floor Eighteen, where the party cannot get to them. Carl gets rid of his own ring, but Li Na remains bound by hers.[13]

Book 8
A Parade of Horribles
Race victories and a worsening condition
Early reports credit Li Na with wiping out the opposition in her and Zhang’s race. Zhang later specifies five team kills in one account. Other reports describe her Dread turning teams against one another, causing many deaths without Li Na killing each victim herself.
Li Na speaks less and less as her condition worsens. Imani finds that she is poisoned and that her health has turned yellow. Left to Fester survives the usual recovery between floors. Zhang offers to sacrifice himself, but the changed race rules make his plan useless. The party begins looking for a way to send Li Na out through the Cabaret.[14]
Choosing the Cabaret transfer
Elle initially takes Li Na’s nod as agreement to the escape plan. Before going ahead, the group explains the uncertain transfer and the danger of collapse directly to her. Li Na prepares a cactus signal with a trap so that she can report back even if ordinary messages no longer work.
Li Na says goodbye to Zhang, tells him she knows he loves her and imagines the ordinary life they might have shared. She enters the carrier willingly. The party puts it into Suckira for the sale, and the system later confirms that she has left the party and been disqualified. The cactus eventually gives the signal for a successful release and her approval of the escape route.[15]

Relationships
Li Jun
Li Jun is Li Na’s brother. He introduces her during the Death Watch encounter and carries her out while Zhang helps their injured manager.[1]
Li Jun argues with Li Na over her continued use of Dreads at the aura tower. After his death, she takes his Engine of Tomorrow and installs it in her own eye socket.[3]
Zhang
Zhang is part of Li Na’s group from their first appearance. He carries and heals their manager during the escape while Li Jun carries Li Na.[1]
Zhang feels guilty about surviving Li Jun and offers to sacrifice himself to save Li Na. When that plan proves unworkable, she leaves through the Cabaret. Before they part, she tells him that she knows he loves her and talks about the life they might have had together.[16]
