Introduction
Appearance and Personality
Louis tells Carl that he is twenty-seven and from Miami, correcting Carl’s first impression of him. He is drunk and confused when they meet. Once sober, he becomes quieter and helps with the group’s infiltration plan.[2]
Louis makes an effort to bring people together when the dungeon gives them little reason to celebrate. He invites grieving friends to meals and organizes a Christmas gathering for the survivors and rescued children.[3]
Louis cares for Juice Box but worries about the political reasons behind their marriage. He agrees to marry her after discussing those doubts. Later, an emergency transplant leaves him dependent on water and a Water Breathing setting to keep his new fae lungs working.[4]

Attributes and Abilities
Louis receives Cloud of Exhaust as an achievement reward for entering the dungeon in a van. At level eleven, the spell has a ten-minute cooldown. He usually uses it to incapacitate enemies and walk away, which helps explain his low level. Damaging an affected enemy can wake it, so the group must act carefully once the cloud takes effect.
Mordecai gives Louis Rapid Detox without warning him of its full effects. It makes him vomit, sobers him up and prevents him from getting drunk again for the rest of the floor.[5]
Louis and Firas learn to fly the altered house by changing altitude to catch air currents moving in different directions. The Twister becomes valuable for rescues, evacuations and keeping Donut close enough to heal allies in midair.[6]
Louis’s Army Air General rank gives him access to a stealth light bomber and its guild hangar. The aircraft connects to the personal-space network through designated airport spaces. It still needs a crew, a route and a way past enemy air defenses.[7]
An emergency transplant replaces Louis’s mechanical heart and lungs with organs taken from a fae flesh golem. The lungs need water, so he must keep his neck gills supplied and use the Water Breathing setting to survive.[8]
Louis uses his extermination ability to spray Mordecai’s anti-Creeper mixture from the Twister. The treatment must coat the plant creature, and he can only deliver it at short range with time between uses. That forces him close to the Creeper’s darts, but he succeeds in killing one from the air.[9]

History
Book 4
The Gate of the Feral Gods
Recruitment and sobriety
Carl and Donut meet Louis and Firas in Hump Town. Louis is a level-twenty-two Entertainment Monsoon. Both men are wary of Carl’s reputation, but Donut persuades them to meet. Louis tells Carl that he is from Miami.
Mordecai realizes that Cloud of Exhaust is far more useful than Louis’s low level suggests. He gives Louis Rapid Detox, forcing him sober for the rest of the floor. Louis then helps with the infiltration and reports gaining two levels from the encounter with the guards.[2]
Learning the Twister
Louis and Firas learn to fly the altered house by moving it between air currents at different heights. Flying too long in the Nothing creates a new danger: Louis reports that the exposure is driving them mad.
They maneuver the damaged house beside Orthrus so Donut can heal the puppy, then get Carl into position for his launch despite the wind and violent movement. Later, they fly the Twister through the Gate while evacuating the changelings. Juice Box tells Carl that she intends to marry Louis.[10]

Book 5
The Butcher’s Masquerade
The aircraft becomes part of the coalition
Louis continues planning his wedding while hunters target him. He sprays the anti-Creeper mixture from the air, supports the town raid and serves as announcer during Mongo’s performance.
Mantis nymphs seize the Twister during the masquerade. After the survivors escape, the Sledge proposes crashing it into the sentinel towers. Carl agrees despite Louis’s objections, sacrificing the flying house that Louis and Firas have spent two floors learning to operate.[11]

Book 6
The Eye of the Bedlam Bride
A host and a person willing to act
Louis invites Britney to meals and organizes a Christmas celebration for survivors and rescued children. He wants the group to have something to look forward to beyond the next fight.
During the FOSCA attack, Carl puts Ines to sleep. Louis volunteers to kill her before the timer runs out, and the system declares him an enemy of Ysalte.[12]

Book 7
This Inevitable Ruin
Air General and husband
Louis becomes an Army Air General and takes command of the celestial Party Planner bomber. Its hangar connects to the guild’s personal-space network through airport spaces, allowing the Princess Posse to move the aircraft and mount bombing missions.
Juice Box asks Louis to marry her partly because the marriage will strengthen the alliance protecting her people. He privately admits his doubts, then agrees. They hold a small legal ceremony and hope to build a life together beyond the war.[13]
Capture, rescue and the transplant
After Louis is captured, Juice Box and Samantha join the rescue. Samantha is promised a body for her help, while Juice Box takes the incorporeal Hunter Wraith form to reach Louis inside the shifting castle. They recover him, but Tagg still controls the mechanical heart and lungs inside his chest.
The group turns to the unfinished Princess Lunette flesh golem for replacement organs. Samantha agrees to give up the body she had hoped to inhabit. Carl enlarges it, Mordecai prepares the empty shell and Juice Box animates the flesh. Before Imani and the others are ready to complete the transplant, Tagg stops Louis’s heart, forcing them to operate immediately.
Louis’s new fae lungs cannot work without water. Carl uses a Water Breathing scroll because Louis cannot take another potion, and the group runs water into his neck gills. He stabilizes after selecting the Water Breathing setting. Mongo eats the discarded mechanical organs containing Tagg.[14]
A future left uncertain
Juice Box says the Hunter Wraith curse showed her something in Louis that makes NPCs fall in love with him. She still believes her love is real. Carl refuses to accept the curse’s attempt to make her despair over their relationship.
Juice Box later enters the Nothing as part of Justice Light’s operation. Louis survives with his transplanted organs, but the story does not show them reuniting before the end of the floor.[15]

Book 8
A Parade of Horribles
The lowrider and another imposed choice
Louis races with Britney and Bautista in the lowrider Eileen. The audience gives it a lighting upgrade that does nothing to fix its low clearance, though later food buffs help its speed. Louis follows Prepotente’s route and helps Carl get a bucket during the water-park emergency.
The group discovers an assassination plot whose real targets are Louis and Imani. Ad Infinitum also shows Louis an imagined childhood in apartment 728, built around life without an abusive partner. The scene is an alternative created for him, not a memory of his actual past.
Louis initially turns down the Cabaret escape because his altered body makes the transfer too dangerous. He expects to keep fighting through the eleventh floor. In the final race, he and Britney are paired against Florin and Lucia.[16]
Leaving through the portal
After the ambush, Louis says goodbye and asks the group to take care of Samantha. He enters the real stasis portal, leaving the others without knowing where he will end up.
Louis is brought out of stasis in Sheol. The heat threatens his gills, so Forkith fits him with a protective leech. Chris, Britney and Pontiff are there too, and he learns that soldiers are needed on another front. His map and spell interfaces are damaged, but chat still works. Samantha contacts him about the missing piece she is seeking and her plans for revenge.[17]

Relationships
Firas
Louis and Firas begin by trying to stay out of fights. They later learn to pilot the Twister together, figuring out its unusual controls and keeping it moving through dangerous air currents.[18]
The pair provide air support during the raid, and Louis helps the Sledge learn the Twister’s controls. He protests when the others decide to destroy it: he and Firas have spent two floors learning to fly the house.[19]
Juice Box
Juice Box announces that she intends to marry Louis and asks Carl to keep him safe. Their wedding plans begin well before the ceremony.[20]
Louis and Juice Box marry in a small ceremony, though he has doubts about the political pressure behind the decision. When he is captured, she takes the dangerous Hunter Wraith form to rescue him and later helps animate his donor organs. The curse makes her question why she loves him, but she insists that her feelings are real.[21]
